Maru Jota is an Argentine-Danish singer-songwriter hailing from Buenos Aires, whose music brings a fresh perspective to the pop genre by infusing it with reggae, jazz, and an infectious positivity. With a soulful voice and memorable melodies, Maru captivates audiences worldwide.
From a very young age, Maru found in music her best roadmap to describe the experiences she lives. Composing, singing, and writing have always been her way of vibrating in tune with the world around her, recovering sounds from her surroundings, and drawing inspiration from every corner and person she encounters. Her music reflects her eclectic influences, blending Latin American rhythms like reggae and ska with Anglo sounds that span jazz and blues.
Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Songwriting at ICMP in London, Maru recently released her second album, "Nuevos Aires," on May 10th, featuring a collection of catchy and vibrant songs. Her musical journey includes opening for artists like Erlend Øye and Li Saumet, and performing at renowned venues such as, Sofar Sounds London, WOMAD 2023 Open Mic Stage and The Waiting Room.
